Coroner identifies Citrus Heights pedestrian killed in crash
A pedestrian killed when hit by a car in Citrus Heights on Sunday morning has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Joseph Downing, 28, of Citrus Heights.
The crash occurred at 5:13 a.m. at Sunrise Boulevard and Old Auburn Road, according to a Citrus Heights Police Department news release. Downing is believed to have been walking from the east to west side of Old Auburn Road against a “don’t walk” signal. He was struck by a vehicle being driven south on Sunrise Boulevard.
Downing died at the scene. The 58-year-old driver cooperated with investigators.
