Man found dead after Oak Park assault; Broadway at Stockton remains closed

Broadway at Stockton Boulevard remained closed Tuesday morning after a man was found dead in the intersection, according to Sacramento Police Department.

Police say the man appeared to have been struck by a car. Homicide and crime scene detectives are investigating the incident, but department officials said the case was being investigated as an assault.

Officers responded to a call for an unresponsive person around 4:30 a.m. and after firefighters discovered the man with injuries described as life-threatening. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity after notifying next of kin.
