Missouri man brought back to Placer County to face multiple child sex charges

Bars from a jail cell frame a door being locked.

A Missouri man extradited to Placer County on multiple felony child exploitation charges is being held without bail, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Steven Ohrie Williams III was recently booked into the Placer County Jail, where he faces 19 felony charges including lewd and lascivious acts with a child aged 14 or 15; possession of child sexual abuse material; sending obscene material to a minor for sexual purposes; and contacting a minor with intent to commit sex crimes, according to sheriff’s officials.

The alleged offenses occurred over four days in April 2025 and again in September, according to Placer Superior Court records. The Placer County District Attorney’s Office filed a 19-count complaint against Williams in October. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 5.

Sheriff’s detectives with the Special Operations Unit began investigating Williams in April and determined he had been communicating with a Placer County child to obtain illicit material, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Williams was arrested Nov. 4 by U.S. Marshals and Missouri law enforcement.
