Police tape at crime scene

A woman was wounded Tuesday night in a deputy-involved shooting in rural El Dorado County, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Little was known about the shooting, which occurred about 5 miles east of Auburn and 17 miles north of Diamond Springs.

Deputies were dispatched about 9:20 p.m. to a call for service in the 1200 block of Sliger Mine Road in Greenwood, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. The first deputy arrived at 10:21 p.m., and the incident quickly escalated into a shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The woman, described only as a female adult, was taken to a hospital with injuries deputies described as not life-threatening. No deputies were injured, the Sheriff’s Office said.

“This is an active investigation and due to the nature of the investigation no further information is available,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
