1 shot in robbery at Rancho Cordova-area restaurant; sheriff investigating

Police tape at crime scene

A patron shot and wounded during an attempted robbery late Monday outside Pho Bac Hoa Viet in the Rosemont neighborhood of Sacramento County was hospitalized in stable condition, authorities said.

At least three masked men confronted a man and a woman just before 9:45 p.m. as they left Pho Bac Hoa Viet in the 3100 block of Bradshaw Road near Oatts Avenue and walked toward their vehicle, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said. The area is often described as Rancho Cordova but is over the city limit and in unincorporated Rosemont.

The suspects, dressed in black, attempted to rob the man. The woman escaped, but the man was shot at least once before the suspects fled in their own vehicle and the couple’s car, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies arrived about 9:45 p.m. and found the wounded man. The stolen vehicle was later recovered abandoned within Sacramento city limits.

No suspects had been identified, and the investigation continues, deputies said.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office at 916-874-5115.
