Folsom police arrested the second of a pair of suspected mail thieves on felony and other charges connected to an early Friday mailbox break-in in a Folsom neighborhood.

The suspected thieves broke into a community cluster mailbox in the 1900 block of Horseshoe Glen Circle early Feb. 6, with one fleeing in a gray Audi sedan, Folsom police said.

A resident described one of the suspects, and officers arrested the man a short time later on suspicion of possessing burglary tools, identity theft, possession of personal identifying information belonging to 10 or more victims, and mail theft, the Folsom Police Department said.

Folsom police officials said the man was on felony probation for a number of similar offenses including possession of counterfeit items including keys used to access cluster mailboxes, identity theft, possession of counterfeit financial instruments, and grand theft.

The Audi’s driver eluded police, but investigators later located him Tuesday at his home, with the Audi parked outside, by using GPS monitoring in effect as part of his parole, the department said.

Inside the car, officers found more stolen mail from Folsom and nearby areas, along with suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, illegal weapons and identification connected to the first suspect, police said.

The man was arrested on suspicion of multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including conspiracy, possession of personal identifying information of 10 or more people, possession of a controlled substance, possession of brass knuckles, and violation of parole.
