Body found in water, Jackson police say. Investigation ongoing

A body was discovered Saturday afternoon in Jackson Creek, near the intersection of Water and McDowell streets and Highway 88, the Jackson Police Department said in a news release.

Officers responded about 1:45 p.m. to a report of a body in the water behind Gordon Hill Flower Shop and Davenport Properties’ real estate office, police said.

At the scene, officers located a partially clothed man dead, according to the release. The body was recovered from the creek and transported to Daneri Mortuary. The cause of death was pending the results of an autopsy.

Authorities, who said the suspicious death remains under investigation, identified the man as 48-year-old Andrew Mclane.
