The Placer County Sheriff’s Office and Roseville police chased down a vehicle theft suspect Saturday morning, according to law enforcement officials.

Authorities said the suspect was located around 8 a.m. when the stolen vehicle entered Roseville on Industrial Avenue. The Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Roseville Police Department, including a police K-9.

Lt. Nick Gaines, a spokesperson for the Roseville Police Department, said officers from both agencies deployed spike strips to stop the vehicle.

The suspect attempted to hit one of the officers, Gaines said

“The vehicle eventually came to a stop requiring the deployment of a 40 mm rubber round to break the window as the driver was still noncompliant with commands,” Gaines said. “The suspect eventually exited the vehicle and was taken into custody.”

The suspect was taken to a hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the South Placer Jail.

He was booked by the Roseville Police Department on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, felony evasion and resisting an executive officer.

Gaines said the Sheriff’s Office also plans to file separate charges against the suspect.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
