Deputies investigating after man in his 40s found shot to death near Nevada City
A man was killed in a shooting Saturday afternoon in a remote part of Nevada County, 15 miles northeast of Nevada City, according to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around noon to a 911 call reporting a shooting on Yellow Pine Lane in the Graniteville Road area, officials said. When deputies arrived, they located an adult male in his 40s dead. He was later identified as Jeremy Norton, 45, of Nevada City.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit launched a homicide investigation. A forensic team from the California Department of Justice responded to assist with processing evidence.
No suspects were in custody as of the latest update. Officials said the investigation remained active and ongoing.
