The Folsom Police Department announced Friday that it arrested two people it suspects of stealing from their employer: the city’s Walmart store.

The police investigation began earlier this month after it received a tip from Walmart, where the two men were employed, the Police Department said in a social media post.

The two men, who lived together in Roseville, worked together to steal more than $28,400 worth of merchandise from the Walmart in Folsom. Folsom police said they found items, ranging from alcohol to electronics, in a car and the residence the duo shared.

Criminal charges had not been formally filed against the two suspects as of Saturday. They were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on multiple felony charges including organized retail theft, embezzlement and conspiracy, Folsom police said.

The Police Department’s special investigations unit led the investigation.

“The Folsom Police Department takes organized retail theft seriously and commends SIU detectives for their diligence, professionalism, and commitment to protecting our community,” the Police Department wrote in a statement.
