Roseville woman faces animal cruelty charges after dogs rescued from homes
A Roseville woman was arrested on suspicion of felony animal cruelty after police and animal control officers rescued dogs found abandoned and malnourished at residences in Roseville and Sacramento.
Roseville Police Department provided details of the May 22 incident Tuesday in a social media post.
Roseville police and animal control officers went to the 43-year-old woman’s home on Oak Tree Drive after receiving reports that four dogs appeared abandoned without access to food or water. Officers found one of the dogs limping from an apparent injury and determined the home was not fit to properly care for animals, Roseville police said.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of felony animal cruelty and misdemeanor failure to provide animal care and was booked into South Placer Jail, according to police. The dog was placed into protective custody and received veterinary care.
Officers serving a search warrant later located the three remaining dogs at a Sacramento residence, where they found the animals in what police described as “similarly poor conditions.” The dogs were taken into protective custody and treated by veterinarians, Roseville police said.
