A drug trafficking network that supplied cocaine to a criminal street gang active in the Yuba-Sutter region has been dismantled following a joint investigation by the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, the Yuba deputies announced Thursday.

Authorities seized nearly 30 pounds of cocaine, five firearms and around 1,000 marijuana plants from an indoor cannabis cultivation operation while executing multiple federal search warrants Tuesday in Yuba and Sacramento counties.

Twelve people were arrested on federal and state charges during the joint-enforcement operation, which authorities said dismantled a significant drug trafficking network with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel, responsible for providing cocaine to the Norteños criminal street gang.

“Investigators believe the disruption of this trafficking network will have a significant impact on the flow of cocaine into Yuba and Sutter counties and will hinder the ability of criminal street gangs to profit from the sale of dangerous narcotics,” a spokesperson for the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a statement.

Authorities emphasized that efforts to combat drug trafficking and gang activity remain ongoing in the region.
