Gridley police arrested the suspected killer of a Mexican national whose body was discovered in an abandoned warehouse in August of last year, the police department announced Thursday.

Officers responded to reports of a body discovered in an abandoned warehouse on 110 Virginia Street in Gridley on Aug. 7, 2025. Investigators determined the victim was Edgar Carlos Garcia, then 39, of Mexico, who died after sustaining fatal injuries during an altercation that took place inside the warehouse. The police report said Garcia’s body had been at the site for several days before it was found.

After an extensive investigation conducted with the Butte County District Attorney’s Office, Gridley and Yuba City police arrested a 32-year-old suspect on Thursday. The man was booked into the Butte County Jail on homicide-related charges, a spokesperson for the department wrote in a released statement.
