Ex-Twin Rivers teacher arrested, faces felony theft charge in Sacramento court
A former Twin Rivers Unified School District employee was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of felony theft and is accused of obtaining money through false pretenses, according to Sacramento Superior Court records.
Twin Rivers Unified School District police arrested the 57-year-old woman Tuesday and booked her into the Sacramento County Main Jail. She was released on bond Wednesday and was scheduled to appear before a judge Thursday afternoon to answer to one charge of theft by false pretenses.
The charge alleges a person knowingly defrauded another by using false or misleading information to obtain money, property, credit or a loan.
It was unclear Wednesday when the alleged offense occurred or what prompted the arrest. Twin Rivers officials released no details about the investigation, although a Twin Rivers police report number appeared to indicate the case dates to 2024.
Twin Rivers Unified officials declined to discuss the arrest Wednesday, citing it as an employment matter, but confirmed the woman is no longer employed by the district. District records and employees union records indicate she taught at Rio Linda High School from August 2022 through at least 2024.
“Because this involves an employment matter and an ongoing legal process, the district is unable to comment at this time,” district spokesperson Zenobia Gerald said in an email. “The district can confirm that the individual is no longer employed by Twin Rivers Unified School District.”
A search of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing records found the woman holds a career technical education teaching credential that expires in 2029.
