‘Person of interest’ held in fatal stabbing at McClatchy Park, Sacramento police say

Homicide investigation

Sacramento police have detained a person of interest connected to a stabbing Tuesday morning in McClatchy Park that left one man dead, according to officers.

No other details were immediately available Tuesday morning.

Responding officers found a man with at least one stab wound about 12:30 a.m. at the park in the 3500 block of Fifth Avenue in the city’s Oak Park neighborhood. The man was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency medical aid, the Sacramento Police Department said.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office was expected to release the man’s identity once his next of kin had been notified.
