Placer County deputies arrested a 25-year-old man Wednesday in connection with an Oct. 1 shooting at a North Auburn apartment complex after locating the suspect in the Bay Area, sheriff’s officials said.

Placer County sheriff’s detectives arrested Leothurs Futch III, 25, who was listed in jail records as facing three felony charges: assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, shooting at an inhabited dwelling and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse, cohabitant or dating partner.

Detectives found Futch inside a vehicle in Berkeley and coordinated with Berkeley police to arrest him, deputies said in a statement Friday.

Futch was booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin pending extradition to Placer County to face the charges, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Futch’s arrest stemmed from a reported shooting shortly after 1:20 a.m. Oct. 1 at an apartment complex in the Colonial Village area of North Auburn. A gunshot was fired into an occupied apartment, but no one was injured.
