One man was killed and six others were injured and transported to hospitals after three cars collided on Alta Arden Expressway shortly after noon Sunday.
The collision briefly closed Alta Arden between Fulton Avenue and Wright Street, said California Highway Patrol spokeswoman Jenna Berry.
A silver Hyundai Santa Fe traveling south on Wyda Way ran a stop sign while entering the intersection with Alta Arden, striking a silver Chrysler Town and Country traveling west, Berry said. The Chrysler was hit on its passenger side, causing the driver to lose control and strike a gold Toyota Sienna minivan traveling east on Alta Arden.
A man in the Chrysler was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female juvenile passenger was in critical condition and transported to UC Davis Medical Center. The woman driver of the Hyundai was also transported to UC Davis Medical Center. Five other vehicle occupants were transported to various hospitals with minor to moderate injuries.
