Teen critically injured when car strikes trees in Nevada County

A Nevada County teenager suffered major injuries Monday morning when his car went out of control and slammed into trees along Bitney Springs Road.

The 16-year-old boy from Nevada City was driving eastbound on Bitney Springs Road northeast of Grass Valley about 6:45 a.m. Monday when his car he made an “unsafe turning movement,” according to the California Highway Patrol.

The car went of control, rotating across the roadway. The vehicle then left the pavement and crashed into trees, causing major damage to the inside and exterior of the car.

The teen was extricated from the car by firefighters and flown to Sutter Roseville Medical Center where he was in critical condition, according a CHP press release.
