Three men arrested in Sunday morning burglary in Elk Grove

Three men were arrested on suspicion of burglary early Sunday after a witness called police and followed the suspect vehicle as it left an Elk Grove residence.

Officers responded to a home in the 9700 block of Kapalua Lane at 6:53 a.m. regarding a report of a burglary that had just occurred. A witness saw the suspects leave the residence in a vehicle and called 911.

While officers were en route, the witness followed the vehicle and provided a description and a license plate number, according to an Elk Grove Police Department summary of the incident. The witness stopped following the vehicle when one of the suspects allegedly pointed a hand gun in his direction, police said.

Officers found the vehicle and stopped it at Elk Grove Boulevard and Kent Street. The three occupants were detained and identified by the witness, police said. The suspects were identified as John Ryan, 24, and Jason Taylor, 32, both of Elk Grove, and Michael Riddlesperger, 20, of Sacramento.

Police reported that property stolen from the residence and an unloaded handgun were found during the vehicle search.

All three men were booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of burglary, receiving stolen property, conspiracy and violating terms of probation. Taylor is also suspected of displaying a replica of a firearm.
