Boy, 4, and woman wounded in Rancho Cordova shooting
A child and a woman were injured early Thursday morning when someone fired a gun into their Rancho Cordova apartment.
Rancho Cordova police were called shortly before 5 a.m. to the 10500 block of Croetto Way. The 911 call indicated that two people had been shot.
When officers arrived at the complex, they found a woman in her 40s had been shot in an arm and a 4-year-old boy in the upper back near a shoulder. Neither wound was life-threatening.
The two were in the front room of an upper-level apartment when shots were fired into the residence through a wall and window, said police spokesman Sgt. Jason Ramos.
Officers have no evidence of a car speeding away. It is possible that the shooter was on foot on a landing just outside the apartment.
