A man accused of robbing a woman after she used an automated teller machine was arrested Sunday afternoon in the Auburn area.
Placer County sheriff’s deputies responded to the Auburn Village shopping center on Highway 49 about 1:30 p.m. after a report of a strong-arm robbery. A woman had used the Golden One ATM in the shopping center. When she returned to a car, she was approached by a man later identified as Abraham Robertson, 36, a transient in the Auburn area, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
Sheriff’s officials said witnesses reported that Robertson took the woman’s ATM card and the cash she had withdrawn from the ATM then left the area on foot, heading toward Highway 49.
Deputies set up a perimeter around the area and found Robertson on Kemper Road. He was booked into Placer County Jail on suspicion of robbery and was held in lieu of $85,000 bail.
