Update: Crews halt progress of warehouse, grass fire near Lincoln
Fire crews on Tuesday evening halted the progress of a commercial fire south of Lincoln that had ignited a grass fire.
Daniel Berlant, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, said the fire started about 5:45 p.m. on Lesvos Court, off Athens Avenue, west of the Thunder Valley Casino. He said a warehouse was on fire along with a number of wooden pallets.
The fire was putting off a lot of embers and sparked a grass fire, Berlant said.
He said 12 fire engines and four water tenders were called to the scene, and two air tankers and a helicopter helped fight the fire from the air.
As of 7:30 p.m., fire officials said 25 acres had burned. Crews were still working to extinguish the structure fire.
