Sac State Police: Student flees man on American River Bike Trail

Police at California State University, Sacramento, say a student reported being accosted by a man in a vehicle who followed her as she was walking on the American River Bike Trail.

The incident, reported to campus police Friday, occurred about 7:50 a.m. Wednesday. As the woman was walking on the trail, she noticed a gold-colored sedan following her. Fearing for her safety, she took a detour off the trail, but the man driving the vehicle got out of the car and followed her on foot, according to a Police Department crime alert.

When she began to run, the man returned to his car, drove up to her and made a sexual comment. The woman reported that she ran off the bike path near Alumni Grove and onto campus.

The man was described as black, approximately 22 or 23 years old, 6 feet tall, weighing 190 pounds, with a muscular build. The car was described as an older model, gold-colored sedan in good condition.

Police ask anyone with information regarding the man’s identity to call the Sacramento State Police Department at 916-278-6000.
