Sacramento police continued Saturday to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a 40-year-old man whose body was found Friday night inside his Franklin Boulevard home.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s office identified the man as Kevin Marcus Johnson.

Speaking on the front steps of his son’s home Saturday evening, the victim’s father, Clarence Johnson, said Kevin worked with him to rehabilitate and sell homes. Clarence said Kevin has four sons ranging in age from 5 to 20. The children do not live with their father and were not present at the time of the incident, Clarence said.

Authorities were at the home in the 2600 block of Franklin Boulevard Saturday gathering evidence.

The body was discovered in the living room inside by a friend of the victim who was visiting Kevin. The friend then called police, according to the victim’s father. Officers said the victim suffered trauma to his upper body and labeled the death suspicious.

Clarence said Kevin was the sole occupant of the Franklin Boulevard home.

Nearby neighbors came by the home to offer condolences to Clarence and said they had not heard gunshots or anything suspicious Friday night.

Clarence hopes his son will be remembered by his smile and happiness, as well as how much he loved and cared for his children.

“I know every parent says this, but he really was a great kid,” he said.
