A 66-year-old Lincoln man was killed Saturday morning after his pickup truck collided with a Union Pacific cargo train near Thunder Valley Casino near Lincoln.
The accident near Industrial Avenue and Athens Avenue occurred about 5:45 a.m., said Sgt. Mark Manz of the California Highway Patrol. The man’s name was not released.
The truck was on the railroad tracks before the signal bells rang and crossing arms fell, witnesses told police. The railroad’s crossing warning system was functional at the time of the crash, Manz said.
The CHP and Union Pacific Railroad Co. police were investigating.
