Cat found hanged on Roseville gate; reward offered

A reward is being offered after a cat was found hanged from a gate in Roseville.

Roseville police report that on Oct. 16 a resident on Oakborough Avenue found the body of his neighbor’s cat hanging from his backyard gate. A belt was looped around the cat’s neck.

It is not clear if someone deliberately hanged the cat or if the belt was placed around the cat’s neck for an unknown reason and the animal became entangled on the gate, according to a police safety newsletter.

If the cat’s death turns out to be an intentional act, the Placer County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the responsible person.

Any with information about the death is asked to call Roseville Crime Stoppers at (916) 783-7867.

Call The Bee’s Bill Lindelof, (916) 321-1079.
