A Truckee police officer arrested a Las Vegas man Tuesday after interrupting a carjacking attempt in which police said the suspect attempted to pull a woman from her car by her neck.
According to the police report, Nathan Daniel Jones, 29, had earlier broken the driver’s window of another car occupied by a woman at the same downtown Truckee gas station, but she was able to drive away.
Several other cars parked at the Beacon station at Bridge Street and Donner Pass Road also had broken windows when the officer arrived at 3:40 p.m. after being flagged down by a witness.
The first woman was not injured. The second, a 29-year-old Truckee woman, was treated and released at Tahoe Forest Hospital for a minor neck injury.

Jones, who was determined to be under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant, continued to act out violently after he was taken into custody, the report said.
He was booked into jail in Nevada City on two counts of attempted carjacking, felony battery, battery on a peace officer, resisting arrest, possession of an illegal weapon (a homemade “sap”) and possession of a pound of suspected marijuana.
Jones, thought to be a transient passing through the area, was recently arrested by Grass Valley police on an outstanding warrant, the report said.
Truckee Police Chief Adam McGill asked that anyone who witnessed any part of the crime call the Police Department at (530) 550-2320.
