The pedestrian who died from injuries after being struck by a light-rail train earlier this week has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
Billy J. Mayhew, 45, died about 7 p.m. Tuesday after being struck by the passenger train. Regional Transit officials said Mayhew was walking on an RT bridge near Richards Boulevard and Highway 160 when he was hit.
RT’s American River bridge is not designed to accommodate pedestrians, a transit agency spokeswoman said.
Mayhew was struck by a Blue Line train that was outbound from Sacramento heading toward the Watt/I-80 station. A place of residence for Mayhew was not included on the coroner’s website.
