Ask Sacto 911 crime Q&A: Have suspects in Citrus Heights’ man’s 2013 slaying been tried?

What’s the status of the case in the killing of Jack Swaim in January 2013? Three men were arrested for his killing, but I haven’t seen any indication that the case has gone to court.

Three men are in Sacramento County Jail, charged with murder and burglary in the death of 52-year-old Jack Swaim on Jan. 5, 2013.

According to Sacramento Superior Court online records, the trial for Andrew Les Johnson, 29, Christopher Langlois, 31, and Jeffrey Douglas Powell, 31, is scheduled to begin Wednesday. It has been postponed several times.

Swaim was found outside his Citrus Heights home in the 6300 block of Stonehand Avenue about 6:30 a.m. He reportedly had been struck with an unknown object and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Powell, a Sacramento resident, was arrested seven days later in Citrus Heights, and Langlois, an Orangevale resident, was arrested the following month. Johnson, a Citrus Heights resident, was arrested May 17, 2013, in San Diego.
