A: The trial for Michael Eugene Addson is underway in Sacramento Superior Court and is scheduled to continue Monday, according to online court records.

He is accused of fatally shooting 22-year-old Marc Zhuchenko, a clerk at the O’Reilly Auto Parts store in the 4000 block of Elkhorn Boulevard during a robbery Jan. 9, 2014.

According to stories in The Sacramento Bee, three employees and two customers were in the store about 7:15 p.m. when a man came in and ordered the customers and two of the employees into a back room. The man demanded that the third employee, Zhuchenko, open the cash register. As Zhuchenko went to open the register, he and the robber apparently began fighting. Zhuchenko stabbed the robber and the robber shot Zhuchenko.

Addson was arrested that night after going to a Sacramento County hospital for treatment of a stab wound. Sheriff’s officials said at the time that evidence at the store and the type of wound linked Addson to the robbery and homicide.
