A 26-year-old man is in jail, accused of stabbing a 2-year-old child at an Arden Arcade apartment.
Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies responded about 7 a.m. Friday to an apartment in the 1800 block of Morse Avenue regarding a report of an injured child. While en route, deputies learned that the mother had locked herself and the child in a back room and that the suspect, identified as a roommate, was still inside the apartment, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.
Deputies arrived and forced their way into the apartment, where they found and apprehended the suspect, and recovered a kitchen knife allegedly used as a weapon.
The 2-year-old boy was transported to a hospital with substantial cuts. Sheriff’s officials said the youngster is listed in fair condition and is expected to survive.
