Deputies arrest 22-year-old man suspected in shooting death of Carmichael woman
The man believed to have accidentally shot and killed a woman at a Carmichael apartment complex was arrested Sunday, a day after the incident.
Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies arrested Kenyatta Brown, 22, early Sunday on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, a department news release states. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail early Sunday and is not eligible for bail.
Detectives believe Brown accidentally discharged a firearm, killing the 18-year-old victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family.
The shooting occurred 2:45 a.m. Saturday in the 5900 block of Sutter Avenue in Carmichael. Authorities said Brown and the victim did not have a pre-existing relationship. The two were at the apartment complex as a result of mutual aquaintances, authorities said.
Brown’s first court date is scheduled for Tuesday.
