Jury selection this week for pair charged with child sex abuse

Jury selection is expected to begin this week in the case of a Sacramento County man and woman accused of sexually abusing two girls, ages 3 and 5, in 2010 and 2011 and capturing images of the acts.

Stormy Mollissa Myers, 35, and Jason Samuel Wymer, 44, face a slew of allegations in a Sacramento County district attorney’s complaint, including lewd and lascivious acts with a child younger than 14, oral sex with a child 10 years of age or younger, and knowingly using a minor to assist with obscene matter. Prosecutors say the acts took place in October 2010 and August 2011 in Sacramento and San Joaquin counties.

Separate juries will be chosen for Myers and Wymer after Myers’ attorney last week asked to sever the case before Sacramento Superior Court Judge Sharon A. Lueras.

Ten of the 12 counts were alleged to have been committed against the 3-year-old in 2010 by one or both of the adults, according to the complaint. Two counts involve acts prosecutors say Wymer committed against the 5-year-old in 2011.

Myers faces four allegations of lewd or lascivious acts with a child younger than 14 and two counts of oral sex with a child along with single allegations of providing or transporting a child under 16 for the purposes of a lewd act, and knowingly using a minor to assist with obscene material.

Wymer faces four allegations of lewd or lascivious acts with a child; a count each of oral sex with a child and attempt to commit oral sex; and an allegation that he knowingly used a minor to assist with obscene matter.

Both defendants are being held without bail in Sacramento County custody.
