A free class to help people avoid becoming victims of identity theft will be offered Oct. 13 by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
The class is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. in the community room at the Auburn Justice Center, 2929 Richardson Drive.
Detectives Scott Alford and Dan Meier, financial crimes experts, will discuss problems law enforcement agencies encounter in such cases and what people can do to protect themselves from identity theft.
The seminar will provide information on reducing the risk of becoming a victim, safeguarding identity, how criminals obtain information and the steps to take if you become the victim of identity theft.
