A motorcyclist who ended up in a watery ditch when his motorcycle went out of control Wednesday near Steep Hill Road in Nevada County has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The California Highway Patrol said that William Morgan Jr., 23, was driving his 30-year-old Honda motorcycle toward Nevada City on westbound Highway 20 when he failed to negotiate a downhill curve.
His motorcycle went off the pavement and struck a wooden post on a roadside sign, shearing the post in half. Morgan was thrown from his motorcycle into a water-filled ditch.
The motorcycle was heavily damaged. Morgan had back pain and cuts to his hands and face.
