The northbound Capital City Freeway offramp at El Camino Avenue is closed to traffic after a vehicle crashed into a pole, injuring four people.
The crash occurred about 7:37 p.m. on the freeway onramp. Sacramento Police Department spokeswoman Officer Traci Trapani said a vehicle struck the pole for the onramp metering light.
Inside the vehicle, she said, were a male driver and three passengers in their 20s. The passengers were taken to area hospitals with what are believed to be injuries that are not life-threatening.
As of about 8:15 p.m., fire department crews were working to extricate the driver, who suffered serious injuries.

Although the crash occurred near the end of the freeway onramp, the California Highway Patrol reported that the offramp was closed to prevent traffic from coming into the area of the crash. There is no estimated time for the reopening of the offramp, according to the CHP.
