A 61-year-old Marysville man suffered major injuries Thursday night when he reportedly stepped into the path of a pickup truck as he was crossing North Beale Road.
The incident was reported about 8:30 p.m. Raymond Frank Acosta was walking from the north side of North Beale Road to the south side just east of Park Avenue. According the the California Highway Patrol, Acosta entered the traffic lane directly in front of a 1998 Ford F150 pickup that was eastbound on North Beale Road. The driver of the pickup, Lyle Graham Blaker Jr., 53, of Marysville, tried to avoid hitting Acosta, but Acosta was clipped by the left front of the pickup.
Acosta was taken by ambulance to Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville suffering from major injuries, according to the CHP.
CHP officials said alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in the collision, which remains under investigation.
