Sheriff’s officials seek to identify man accused of attempted sexual assault in North Highlands

Sacramento County sheriff’s officials have released a sketch of a man suspected of attempting to rob and sexually assault two women in the North Highlands area early Tuesday.

The incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. when the women were approached by an armed man, whom they did not know, near Walerga Road and Galbrath Drive. The man initially indicated he intended to rob them, then, while brandishing the gun, indicated his intent to sexually assault them, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.

The women struggled with the man and were able to break free from him. The man then left the area on foot.

The man was described as in his mid 20s, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, with a “fit” build and dark hair. At the time of the alleged assault, he was wearing a red T-shirt and dark jeans.
