A man was arrested late Saturday after firing several rounds into the air in an Orangevale neighborhood, authorities said.
Wesley Martin Bennett, 61, was arrested on weapons and vandalism charges by Sacramento sheriff’s deputies about 11:15 p.m. Saturday. The incident began just after 9:00 p.m., when authorities received reports of a shooting in the 6700 block of Main Avenue.
Bennett allegedly fired a shotgun into the air and at an unoccupied vehicle before returning to his home.
Deputies then arrived on scene, established a perimeter and evacuated neighbors. After two hours, the suspect surrendered peacefully and was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains in lieu of $80,000 bail.
