Former Sacramento Police Chief Braziel appointed to statewide board
Gov. Jerry Brown has announced the appointment of former Sacramento Police Chief Rick Braziel to the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, or POST.
Braziel, 55, of Gold River, served as police chief from 2008 to 2012. Before that, he held a number of jobs in the department from 1979 to 2008, including deputy chief and patrol sergeant.
POST sets selection and training standards for California law enforcement. The crganization has more than 130 staff members and is managed by an executive director appointed by the commission.
Braziel, an instructor at Humboldt State University and a consultant, would not be compensated as a commissioner. His position requires state Senate confirmation. The announcement was made Monday.
