The Sacramento Bee reported that Caldwell, 54, was arrested in February 2009 on suspicion of inappropriate sexual behavior with at least eight different young girls.
Police said at the time of his arrest that Caldwell was accused of sexually assaulting or inappropriately touching the girls, ages 7 through 17, while camping, as they slept over at his house or while employed at his business, Big D’s BBQ, on Grand Avenue in Sacramento’s Del Paso Heights area. The victims were girls who trusted Caldwell, and included employees, family members and acquaintances. Authorities said the incidents occurred between 2000 and 2008.
