Phone scammers use Sacramento DA identity to commit fraud

A phone scam using the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office’s name to get sensitive personal and financial information has recently been prevalent in the region.

The fraudulent callers ask for social security numbers and credit card information. Some of the calls speak about credit worthiness and mortgage refinance.

Caller ID displays when the scammers telephone show “SAC DA MAIN” and “Sacramento: Main DA.” However, the calls are not from the district attorney’s office.

Scammers are using the DA’s identity to commit identity theft and credit card fraud.
