Vehicle leaves scene after fatally hitting man on bike along Elkhorn Boulevard

A man was killed Sunday night when he was hit along a street in the Rio Linda area by a vehicle that drove from the scene .

Tobias J. Carlile, 40, of Rio Linda was astride a small bicycle with his feet on the ground, walking the bike along the right side of road about 8:55 p.m. Sunday. He was eastbound in the 1400 block of Elkhorn Boulevard with his wife walking on his right.

Carlile was struck by a vehicle and thrown to the side of the road. He was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m. His wife escaped serious injury.

A make and model of the vehicle were not immediately available.
