Jeremy Daniel McMahon and Michelle Kiyomi Okumura are charged with first-degree murder, torture and false imprisonment in the shooting death of 22-year-old Eric Solen Jackson at the Capitol Manor Apartments in midtown Sacramento on Oct. 8, 2013.

McMahon, 32, and Okumura, 24, are being held without bail in Sacramento County Jail. According to Sacramento County Superior Court online records, their trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 15.

According to stories in The Sacramento Bee, the shooting resulted from a massage transaction that went bad. McMahon reportedly told police that he took Jackson captive in response to a previous massage encounter between Jackson and Okumura, McMahon’s girlfriend. McMahon and Okumura allegedly took Jackson captive and held him for two days, during which he was tortured. Jackson reportedly was shot when he tried to escape.
