The Sacramento County Coroner’s office has released the name of a toddler whose death is the subject of a police investigation.
She was identified as two-year-old Dulce Jaimez-Espinoza. Her parents were identified on the coroner’s website as Laura Espinoza and Enrique Jaimez.
A police investigation has begun into the death of the girl. She was pronounced dead at 9:40 p.m. Monday at a Sacramento hospital where she had been taken by a fire department ambulance.
Firefighter medical personnel first responded to a home in the 7600 block of Teekay Way in Meadowview. The little girl was transported to the hospital and police were summoned at the request of the coroner's office at 10 p.m. Monday.

A police department press release does not say what caused the girl’s death, only that “due to unusual circumstances surrounding the death, homicide detectives arrived at the hospital and began their investigation.”
Police are trying to determine is whether her death was an accident or of a criminal nature.
