UPDATE: Sacramento SWAT officers find no sign of suspect sought by Elk Grove police

A Sacramento Police Department SWAT operation at a home where a susect in an Elk Grove Crime was thought to be holed up has concluded after officers determined the the residence was empty.

Elk Grove police spokesman Officer Christopher Trim said police from both departments cleared the scene in the 3400 block of 24th Avenue shortly before 9 p.m.

Trim said Elk Grove officers with the department’s street crimes unit were investigating a case when they spotted a suspect in the yard of the residence shortly before 3 p.m. Because the home was in the city of Sacramento, Elk Grove police contacted Sacramento police.

Trim said officers were not sure that the suspect was in the house, or whether he had left before police were able to establish a perimeter. But given the circumstances, he said, Sacramento police dispatched a SWAT team.

Trim declined to say what case Elk Grove officers were investigating.
