Sheriff’s Office: Death of woman found in south Sacramento County considered suspicious

Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies are investigating as suspicious the death of a woman whose body was found Monday morning in south Sacramento County.

The victim was discovered about 9 a.m. near railroad tracks north of Calvine Road and east of Morgan Hill Way, said sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Tony Turnbull.

She sustained “some kind of head trauma,” Turnbull said. “It’s undetermined what caused it.”

During a canvass of the area, deputies talked to people who reported hearing gunshots late Sunday evening, but investigators have not determined whether the gunshots were related to the victim’s death, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of family.

Detectives ask anyone with information related to the incident to call the Sheriff’s Department at 916-874-5115 or Crime Alert at 916-443-4357. Tip information also may be left anonymously via the department’s website, www.sacsheriff.com; by texting 274637 and entering the keyword “SSD”; or by calling 916-874-8477.
