Student suffers minor injuries in Elk Grove school bus collision

A student suffered minor injuries Wednesday afternoon when an Elk Grove Unified School District bus was involved in a collision.

The crash occurred about 2:20 p.m. The bus, with the driver and four students on board, was southbound on Highway 99 and exited at Cosumnes River Boulevard. The driver was preparing to make a left turn when a recreational vehicle entered the intersection heading west and the two vehicles collided, according to a school district news release.

Emergency personnel, the California Highway Patrol and school district officials responded to the scene. All four students and the bus driver were taken to area hospitals for evaluation as a precaution and parents were notified. The driver of the recreational vehicle did not report any injuries, district officials said.

The bus, which was taking students to their drop-off locations, sustained significant damage, according to the news release.
