The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has released the name of a woman who was found dead with a gunshot wound on Oct. 12 near south-area railroad tracks.
She was identified as 54-year-old Anna Bernaix. A hometown was not listed on the coroner’s website for Bernaix.
Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives investigating the death of Bernaix said her body was discovered about 9 a.m. Oct. 12 near railroad tracks behind and just north of Gwinhurst Circle, which is near Calvine and Elk Grove Florin roads.
Initially, the Sheriff’s Department stated that Bernaix had head trauma and that further investigation was needed to discover how she died. Later in the week, detectives determined that she was the victim of homicide.
