Two preteens have been found after they went missing following a Friday afternoon play date in north Sacramento, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department said.
The two children – Thomas Christian, 11, and David Barnes, 12 – had last been seen playing around 5 p.m. Friday in a courtyard area of an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Apartment Lane in the Alta Arden area.
The Sheriff’s Department learned this morning that the children walked to a house in the Del Paso Heights area where one of the children’s relatives lived, spokesman Tony Turnbull said.
The relative did not know the boys had been reported missing until Saturday morning, when he reported the children’s location to the department, Turnbull said.

The children appear to be in good condition and have been reunited with their parents, he said.
The Sheriff’s department initiated a search shortly after 5:30 p.m. Friday, including the use of dogs and helicopters. That search had to be suspended shortly after 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning due to rain that had moved into the area, Turnbull said.
